Shoot Nations, Photography Exhibition at The International Slavery Museum, Liverpool running from January 17 – June 28 2009.
The International Slavery Museum in Liverpool is playing host to a fascinating new exhibition about climate change.
All of the images have been taken from the Shoot Nations 2008 scheme, an international photographic project that saw youngsters aged between 11 and 24 tackle the theme of young people in a changing climate.
The aim of the project is to look at how climate change is affecting young people across the globe and to see what they can do to slow change and how they will adapt to the changes caused by climate change.

Dr Richard Benjamin, Head of the International Slavery Museum says: “We are pleased to host an exhibition of works which highlight issues of global inequality as seen and expressed by young people across the world.
“This is the first in a series of temporary exhibitions, which take a closer look at issues highlighted in the museum galleries – from global lifestyle inequalities to racism, discrimination and identity.
“The museum actively campaigns against all forms of contemporary racism, discrimination, slavery and bonded labour. It is an active museum, not a neutral one."
The competition received more than 1,300 images from 104 countries over a 12-week period. The entrants were asked to choose from three briefs: How is climate change affecting your life? Act now – be the change! Your world in the future.

Dr Benjamin adds: “This exhibition highlights the global impact of our changing environment, particularly the effects of global warming and intensive farming on the earth’s natural resources.
“Here the feelings and opinions of the world’s youth have been captured and communicated through the art of photography, breaking down the language barrier and promoting global awareness.”
The project is the result of a partnership between international children’s charity plan and Shoot Experience, a photographic events company.

“The global nature of Shoot Nations allows us to more fully understand the impact of environmental change in many different parts of the world and also how young people are responding to the challenges that face all of us.”
