Fun at the Science Museum during National Science Week
National Science and Engineering Week (NSEW) is a ten-day celebration of science, engineering and technology that runs throughout the UK from March 6 - 15 2009.
Museums and science centres, as well as schools and colleges, are amongst the venues holding events to promote the festival. Find out about what’s happening near your school or college on the British Science Association website.
For example, budding scientists can go along to Magna Science Adventure Centre in Rotherham for a weekend of science fun.
You can take a look at what’s in store in the video footage of Magna Science Adventure Centre’s Kitchen Sink Show.

In Liverpool a small exhibition called Voyage of the Beagle and the Darwin Discovery Trail fun quiz are the latest World Museum Liverpool events marking the 200th anniversary of the great scientist’s birth and launched at the start of National Science Week.
Voyage of the Beagle is in the museum’s Clore Natural History Centre and features items from Charles Darwin’s time and a 1:64 scale model of the Beagle. The Darwin Discovery Trail has 11 questions about Darwin-linked exhibits located around the museum.
Visitors to Ipswich Museum on Saturday March 14 will be able to enjoy a day of scientific fun as Colchester and Ipswich Museum Service hosts a National Science and Engineering Week event with demonstrations, experiments and live performances from the zany scientists of the ‘Science in a Suitcase’ team.

On Saturday March 14, you can help to round off National Science and Engineering Week with a bang or two at Catalyst Science Discover Centre. Their explosive demonstrations will explain changing materials by heating, cooling, burning and mixing.
National Science and Engineering Week is coordinated by the British Science Association and funded by the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills (DIUS), in partnership with the Engineering Technology Board (ETB).
