From the purity of the lily to the romanticism of forget-me-nots and pressed specimens from Gallery Oldham’s sprawling herbarium collection, this show springs a floral flourish on the town which prevailed at last year’s North-West in Bloom campaign.
They aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty – plant models from the resident natural history library will be on display, and themed activity areas will encourage children to dress up, draw, identify plant specimens and find out about the insect underworld.
Artists and designers have been inspired by flowers for centuries, so the gallery also raids its fine art, textiles and ceramics banks to show how blooms have made rich fodder for decorations and canvasses.
- Open 10am-5pm (4pm Sunday). Admission free.
