Head to the National Museum of Costume to discover the styles that have been in vogue in the last two centuries. From the bustle to Dior’s New Look there’s plenty of inspiration on show.
The Museum is housed in a beautiful country house, just south of Dumfries. Each room reflects a different period of time between the 1850s and the 1950s. The Dining Room reveals how Victorian ladies managed to get dressed with all the bows and the bustles whilst upstairs the radical changes in fashion of the lates 40s and early 50s are on display.
Round off your visit with a cup of tea and slice of cake in the café; whether you’re a fan of lemon drizzle or a tray bake, you’ll be spoilt for choice.
