The Comunn Eachdraidh (Historical Society) was formed in 1995 to conserve and promote the culture and heritage of the islands of Barra and Vatersay. The Society collects artefacts, documents and photographs, and has built up extensive archives and collections. It arranges exhibitions, displays and events of a social, educational and recreational nature.
The Society has over 150 members, who voluntarily give their time and expertise to manage the fine purpose-built Heritage Centre, and provide a warm welcome to all who seek to learn more about the history, language and culture of their unique and precious islands.
