Craftsmen of Crail

  • 16 May 2015 11am-4pm
  • 17 May 2015 1-4pm

How beautiful are thy feet in shoes'. This slightly biased inscription is carved above the shoemakers' gallery in Crail Parish Church. Just one of the 'Craftsmen of Crail', we look at the tools, furniture and characters of each of the trades associated with the town including the weavers, carpenters, blacksmiths, tailors, bakers and sailors.
Sadly, the sailors belonged to one of the more dangerous trades. This year marks the 200th anniversary of one of Crail's greatest fishing disasters and we'll be commemorating the lives lost on Saturday at Crail Harbour. Join us to celebrate a community held together by its traditions, its people and its resilience.
