Set on the waterfront within a restored 19th century dock the Shetland Museum and Archives tells Shetland's story. As well as housing the Museum and Archive collections there is a cafe restaurant, auditorium, learning and research rooms, temporary exhibition space and shop. Other facilities include historic boat building sheds and a three storey boat hall with suspended boats.

Lower Gallery. A display highlighting the life and work of Jock Rattar, who was a blacksmith in Foula in the late 20th cenury. This includes items he made and some of his tools and personal effects.Free, no booking required.

'Lighthouses and Crofts'

Carolyn Dixon is an Orkney - based artist who in this exhibition features paintings of lighthouses and monochrome collagraphs of Orkney and Shetland crofts. she porposely disregards the often dramatic landscape to bring forward the peuliarities of place.

3D Kelp Forest Wall Hanging

Join us for a nature craft activity where you can learn about kept and get involved in making a muckle 3D kelp forest wall hanging which will be exhibited in the museum over the summer. The morning session will be for ages 5 to 8, the afternoon session for ages 8 to 11.
