The Girdleness Outfall Scheme

This display of 12 period photographs shows the construction of Girdleness Outfall Scheme at the dawn of the 20th century. The unknown photographer not only captured the great engineering feats involved but also the men at work in difficult and often dangerous conditions

The Girdleness Outfall Scheme

The Girdleness Outfall Scheme was the centrepiece of a farsighted plan to address the sanitary requirements for the growing city of Aberdeen in the early 20th century.

The original photographs in this display capture the scope of this impressive engineering project.

Wreck of the Oscar

This exhibition, timed to coincide with the 200th anniversary of the wreck of the whaler Oscar at Girdleness, uncovers the circumstances surrounding that tragic event as well as exploring other wrecks and rescues along the coast of North East Scotland
