Introducing the Connect10 Artists taking part in the exciting new competition for Museums at Night 2012.

Susan Stockwell makes extraordinary sculptures, collages and installations that raise questions about ecology, historic and present day trade, as well as the post and neo-colonial implications of global commerce.

Not surprising, then, that the materials she selects for her creations are an eclectic mix of objects, fabrics and bits and pieces rich with metaphor and meaning.

A recent quilt, Chinese Dream, was made from Chinese money and World was a beautifully intricate map of the world crafted from old circuit boards.

With work taking many forms – from small intricate studies to large-scale installations and sculpture – she has exhibited in galleries and museums all over the world, including the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, The Katonah Museum, New York and The National Museum of China, Beijing.

She cites her interests as ecology, geo-politics, mapping, trade and global commerce.
