Paintings and photographs recalling the almost forgotten development of Hammersmith and Fulham have been brought together for a summer exhibition at the Fulham Palace Museum.
Lost Hammersmith and Fulham, which runs until September 24, shows how a rural area of villages, market gardens and large houses developed to become a suburb the great urban sprawl of London.
The museum has also got together maps, ephemera and objects from the local history centre and private collections to create the picture. Items range from photographs of White City exhibitions and events to ice-cream wrappers from local manufacturer Lyons Maid.
