Few museums could be as well-positioned to celebrate Open Weekend, the mini-festival across the country marking two years before the Olympics come to Britain, than the River and Rowing Museum.

This summer, the Henley institution has embarked upon a well-received Our Sporting Life exhibition, celebrating some of the greatest feats of achievement from the country’s sweat-breaking past.

One of the stories to emerge from the show has been a collaboration between mountain bike trailblazers Jack Meeks and Nick Goddard, who have been keeping visitors entertained with a melee of trials and stunts around the museum.

They return on Sunday for more daredevil exhibitionism, and they’ll also be disseminating some of their skills and bone-crunching experiences during the day.

“Everyone can get involved with our spectacular,” promises Museum Chief Executive Paul Mainds. “Sport has the power to educate, inform and inspire, and we hope the demonstrations will encourage people to give a new sport a go, participate in new activities and have fun.”

On a hot summer Sunday, the prospect sounds perfect.

Runs 10.30am-11am, 12.30pm-1pm and 3pm-4pm. Admission £7.50/£5.50 (includes readmission for a year).
