Explore the robot revolution in medicine with the Hunterian Museum's autumn 2009 events and activities.

There are some fantastic family activities and events at the Hunterian Museum this autumn to coincide with their latest exhibition, Sci-Fi Surgery: Medical Robots, from September 8 to December 23 2009.

As the activities and events are after-school and at weekends, they would be great for children who have an interest in science, robotics and Anime.

From the Creepy Crawly Robots: Robot-building workshop on Saturday September 26 2009 to a Sci-Fi Surgery Superhero Manga workshop on Wednesday October 28 2009, kids will be able to design and make robots of their own. The Hunterian Museum website has full details of the robot workshops.

On Thursday October 22 2009, there is also the first ever Hunterian Museum film screening of two works on the theme of medical miniaturisation. Anime expert Helen McCarthy will introduce the classic 1963 anime Astroboy: Mighty Microbe Army about the robot boy miniaturised to fight bacteria inside the body, followed by the 1966 movie 'Fantastic Voyage' inspired by one of Osamu Tezuka's early Manga works 'The Monster on the 38th parallel'.

The museum and the exhibition 'Sci-Fi Surgery: Medical Robots' will be open from 6pm so that you can see the mini-bots that turn fantasy into reality.

On Thursday November 19 from 6.30-9pm, there is also the chance to see anime 'U-18 Knew' featuring the anti-hero and genius surgeon Black Jack, the creation of Manga master Osamu Tezuka.

As part of this Robot Revolution event, you'll be able to hear from a surgeon and experts in biomedical engineering about what medical robots can do and will be able to do in the future.

Again, the Hunterian Museum and exhibition 'Sci-Fi Surgery: Medical Robots' will be open throughout the evening.

The film events are free but booking is required. Telephone 0207 7869 6560 to reserve places.

For full details of all the Hunterian Museum and exhibition Sci-Fi Surgery: Medical Robots events for families and a link to events for adults, please check out the details on the museum's website.
