The Scottish Mining Museum in Newtongrange, Midlothian, is set to host a series of events throughout December to get everyone into the Christmas spirit.

Kicking off proceedings is the Christmas Craft Fair, which is being held on Saturday December 12. Perfect for getting the Christmas shopping started, the fair will host 20 stalls with a variety of different produce on offer.

On Sunday 13 and Monday December 14 the Museum will be hosting the play A Christmas Carol, which is presented by NonsenseRoom Productions.

This two-man show uses video and shadow puppetry to tell the classic Dickens story of Ebeneezer Scrooge and sees each man doubling and sometimes tripling up to play all the necessary characters.

Finishing off the Christmas fun is Lunch with Santa on Sunday December 20. This event is particularly suitable for those expecting a visit from Santa on the 25th.

Children can join Santa for lunch, play party games, visit Santa's grotto and receive an early Christmas gift, while their weary parents can relax in the café. Tickets are just £10 per child, and guarantee to keep the little ones entertained for a few hours at least.

To buy tickets for any of the events mentioned above, please contact the Museum's reception on 0131 663 7519.
