Museum of Soho
Terry O'Neill's Soho companions included the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, so there would be much to savour if he returned to the flamboyant area's museum, established in 1990.
They say: "Soho is a place of paradox and a place unparalleled. We have chosen Terry O'Neill because of his interest in Soho, London, Jazz and photography.
The whole club would host an exhibition of photographs of artists and musicians, plus rare colour shots of 1940s dancers from the Windmill Theatre and a discussion with Terry and noted concert promoter Jim Godbolt. Maurice Poole will also give a talk on the Windmill theatre.
There would be special guests and surprises galore."
Ragged School Museum
Opened in 1990 on the premises of one of a Dr Barnardo's Ragged School saved from demolition a decade earlier, this atmospheric Tower Hamlets building tells the story of how children were given a basic education in the Victorian era.
They say: "There is surely no better venue than this for an East London boy to look back on his remarkable life. Two great London icons, the Ragged School Museum and photographer Terry O’Neill, will come together for a truly special evening.
Not only did the museum once house Dr Barnardo’s famed 'ragged school', in the 1960s it played host to Lewis Leathers – creators of the iconic leather jackets worn by the very stars that Terry has immortalised with his images."
