(Above) The Museum of Canterbury makes a Museums at Night debut

The science of the stars, stealthy owls, ghost stories and giant art are the nocturnal weapons of choice for the Museum of Canterbury as it enjoys a debut Museums at Night campaign on Saturday.

Visitors over seven can find out about bats, hedgehogs, badgers, foxes and owls, watch the sky and identify constellations with binoculars after 9pm, create paintings inspired by creatures of the night and listen to poetry, ghost stories and book extracts.

Light and dark experiments will reveal pre-lightbulb survival methods and an after-dark quiz will explore the galleries, including prizes.

Staff from Canterbury Cathedral Archives will be on hand to explain some of the mysteries in an event suitable for those aged seven and over.
