The new show at London’s Design Museum is a glittering retrospective of Paris shoe shaper Christian Louboutin's high-style career.
Inspired by the Paris showgirls of the Folies Bergère, it made for a buzzing Museums at Night starting point - his fetish collection is definitely of the night, so it seemed appropriate to be slinking around here after dark.
A cool nightclub with DJs and video projections by video artist D-Fuse was the height of fashionable. A screening of experimental short fashion films upstairs gave the fashionistas some food for thought - in between glasses of wine and plenty of high heels.
As the lights dimmed, the vino flowed wiith the sparkling Thames gliding by outside the museum.
Downstairs was a hive of activity, with visitors of a creative bent given the chance to design their own Cinderella fantasy shoe in a workshop run by fashion illustrator Spiros Halaris. Who knows - maybe a new Louboutin was born tonight.
- Culture24's Museums at Night 2012 continues through Saturday and Sunday May 19 and 20. See the full listings and refine your search by place, subject or theme.
