The Derbyshire town of Bakewell can count some heroic locals among its residents.
Back in the 1940s, when courage and belief were the buzzwords of a generation living against a backdrop of war, members of the Women's Royal Naval Service were part of the codecracking experts charged with deciphering German communications from the famous Bletchley Park HQ.
Some of them will be recounting their stoic stories to the sweet sound of 1940s music here, accompanied by dinner courtesy of an in-house catering team who have apparently decided against cooking food from the era of rations.
The former Service members will be bringing photos of Bletchley and the Enigma machine – the computer which did so much to fracture German lines of exchange – as well as inviting wartime memories and costume.
