Gallery Oldham, a bold new landmark building, opened in February 2002.
Monday - Saturday
Oldham’s museum and gallery service dates back to 1883. Over the last 120 years Oldham Art Gallery and Museum has established itself as the cultural focus of a town that was built around the cotton and engineering industries and has developed one of the largest and most varied permanent collections in the North West of England.
The current collections include over 12,000 social and industrial history items, more than 2,000 works of art, about 1,000 items of decorative art, more than 80,000 natural history specimens, over 1,000 geological specimens, and about 3,000 archaeological artefacts. A complementary collection of 15,000 photographs and a large number of books and pamphlets is held by Oldham Archives and Local Studies Library.

Museums at Night
- 15 May 2014 5-8pm
To celebrate our Museums at Night entry we're putting on an extra special evening with music from local artists, a new exhibition opening, special after-hours talks and specially commissioned poetry readings. As well as all of those brilliant activities we are also proud to present the first-ever (for Gallery Oldham) Dr. Sketchy life drawing session!
Come and join us for a free night of fun!
