This award-winning museum is the finest free show in town. You'll enjoy the hundreds of exhibits which include the restored paddle steam ship Wingfield Castle; a real 'fishing coble' to climb aboard; the finest 'gas illuminated lighthouse'; sea monsters and monkey fish. It features local and social history with a strong maritime emphasis. There are regular exhibitions, family activities, events, and other activities. The Museum is part of the Hartlepool Maritime Experience visitor attraction.

Jutland 1916 : Remembering the Forgotten Battle

A new major regional exhibition telling the story of the Battle of Jutland, in partnership with the National Museum of the Royal Navy. Discover the part the communities of the North East played in this crucial turning point of the First World War. Part of the national programme commemorating the 100th Anniversary of the Battle of Jutland. Sponsored by Niramax. Artefacts, ship models, audio-visuals, hands-on interactives for families, and a supporting event and activity programme.
