The National Library of Wales is one of the great libraries of the world. Its home is in the seaside town of Aberystwyth in Ceredigion. Since 1911 it has enjoyed the right to collect, free of charge, a copy of every printed work published in Britain and Ireland. The Library also hosts numerous exhibitions throughout the year, as well as lectures and other events. Groups visitors also welcomed - please pre-arrange all group visits.

Reading Rooms and Entrance Hall exhibition area:
Monday - Friday 9.30 a.m.-6.00 p.m.
Saturdays from 8 May 2010 9.30 a.m.-5.00 p.m.

The National Screen and Sound Archive of Wales Collection Viewing Room:
Monday-Friday 10.00 a.m. -5.00 p.m.

Gregynog Exhibition Gallery: Monday - Friday
10.00 a.m. -5.00 p.m.

Cafe: Monday - Friday 9.30 a.m. - 4.30 p.m.

The Library is closed every Sunday. The Library will be open on Saturdays from 8 May 2010

Admission charges

Admission to the Library and exhibitions is free.
Readers tickets are required for access to the Reading Rooms, these are available free of charge from the Library with proof of id. For more information please telephone or visit the website.

Disabled Visitors: There is convenient disabled parking and a choice of front entrances. Wheelchair access to most public areas.

As a Legal Deposit Library The National Library of Wales has a legal right to all UK publications. Its collections include ancient Welsh and Celtic manuscripts and items of particular interest to Wales and the Celtic nations. The National Library of Wales also houses The National Screen and Sound Archive of Wales, including film, television and radio footage and music recordings on various formats. The Welsh Political Archive is also housed in the Library.
