Stargazing indoors and outside

Night at the Museum at the National Space Centre will be an evening of stargazing, both indoors and outside! With talks, workshops, planetarium shows and the whole Centre to discover, this is an exciting evening for the whole family.

Challenger Learning Centre

Participants run their mission in a highly themed environment where they take on roles within a Mission Control and Space Station, becoming medical officers, Martian geologists, spacecraft navigators, satellite engineers etc. Working towards the mission objectives creates an exciting team environment, which exposes participants to the demands of co-operation, problem-solving, communication and decision-making. Learning is rarely such fun!
The missions last approximately 2½ hours. Morning missions start at 10.00am, afternoon missions start at 1.00pm. We recommend that you arrive half an hour before your mission starts. We can also run missions in the evenings and at weekends. Suitable for 1

e-Mission

An e-Mission is an exciting simulated mission delivered through live video conferencing and dedicated web pages. Students in a classroom anywhere in the world and the Flight Directors at the National Space Centre’s e-Mission Control can link up using the latest video conferencing and Internet technology. e-Missions provide the excitement of the mission scenario to inspire students and encourage the use of new technology in education.

Stardome

AstraZeneca Stardome is a portable, inflatable planetarium, which fits into most school halls or gyms. 25 adults or 30 children are able to take part in a session within the dome at any one time.
AstraZeneca Stardome recreates a perfectly dark night sky with hundreds of brilliant points of light splashed across the inside of the dome.
