Johanna Basford: Wonderlands
In spring 2013 Scottish illustrator Johanna Basford (Aberdeen, 1983) will transform DCA Galleries with her intricate black and white works.
Well known for her commercial work, Basford’s exhibition will focus predominantly on new creative, ambitious and large scale pieces which retain the incredible detail of her signature style.
Johannna Basford is based in Aberdeen and studied Textile Design at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design. She has previously worked with DCA on several Education projects.

Sister Corita Kent
To coincide with the Impact Print Festival, DCA will show an exhibition of the work of Sister Corita Kent (1918 - 1986) alongside a selection of pieces by contemporary artists who have been inspired by her work.
Born Frances Elizabeth Kent in Fort Dodge, Iowa, Sister Corita was an artist, illustrator and educator who worked in Los Angeles and Boston. In conjunction with the Impact Print Festival, DCA will be holding a series of pop-up events in the gallery space throughout the run of the exhibition.

Hiraki Sawa
To coincide with Discovery Film Festival, DCA will show an exhibition by Hiraki Sawa in the autumn of 2013. Born in Japan and now based in London, Sawa has captivated audiences across the world with his video animations.
His work has a haunting dream-like quality with surreal imagery and atmospheric sounds. The exhibition will showcase a selection of his animated and video works.
Held annually at DCA, Discovery Film Festival is Scotland’s international film festival for young audiences and will run from 19 October until 3 November 2013.
