This flourishing Arts Centre was built in the 1840s as the stable block for Antrim Castle of which only an Italianate tower survives in Antrim Castle Gardens. It was once the centre of the estate farm and consists of an enclosed central courtyard flanked by two wings in neo-Tudor style.
Clotworthy Arts Centre was completely refurbished in 1993 to offer drama, music, visual arts, lectures, courses, workshops, community projects and festivals for residents, day visitors and tourists. Its studio Theatre has a fine acoustic, advanced lighting and sound systems and a Sennheiser Infra-red Hearing System funded by the National Lottery Arts Fund. The visual arts are presented in two Galleries and the Theatre foyer. The Lecture Theatre and Board Room are popular for courses and meetings and the as yet unrenovated Barn serves as rehearsal space for aspiring musicians.
The Arts & Heritage Service for the Borough of Antrim is based in the Centre.
