Newlyn Art Gallery & The Exchange

We offer a wide and varied programme across our two sites, showcasing the very best of national and international contemporary art, as well as work by some of the best artists currently working in the region.
Our exhibitions are supported by a full programme of events.
At Newlyn Art Gallery we recently completed a project to enhance the outdoor spaces including secluded gardens, an outdoor cafe area and a flexible space where workshops and events can take place during the summer months.
The Exchange features a large T-shaped gallery which is also used as a project space, for film screenings, live performances and community events.
Both venues have a café serving snacks and light lunches, as well as a well-stocked shop selling books, cards, jewellery and gifts.
Well behaved dogs on leads are welcome.

DIRECTIONS
The Exchange is 600m from Penzance bus and train stations and the harbour car park. Princes Street can be approached from Market Jew Street or Chapel Street.

Newlyn Art Gallery sits at the end of Newlyn Green as you approach from Penzance.

Walk. A 2km walk between the two galleries along the promenade. Bus. Buses run from The Greenmarket in Penzance to Newlyn Art Gallery every 30 mins.

Hercules: Rough Cut explores empire, civilisation and language in a hypnotically rotating, mutating installation of video and voice. Alongside this, Fortress of Solitude is a celebration of popular culture with Blandy’s own archive of books, comics, records and videos.

A mixed exhibition of works from previous Picture Room artists alongside works from the Gallery’s Print Portfolio including works by Kurt Jackson, Ivo Ringe and Pablo Bronstein.

With an emphasis on affordable works The Picture Room offers the opportunity to buy paintings, prints and drawings by some of the region’s most recognised artists.
All profits from sales made in The Picture Room directly support the Gallery’s education and exhibition activities.

Tutors' Show at Newlyn Art Gallery.

A selling exhibition of more than 70 works by the respected local artists who teach at the Newlyn School of Art.

It will be possible to view the works online, and purchases can be in made in advance of the exhibition. Commission from all sales will be split between the artist and raise vital funds for the Newlyn School of Art and Newlyn Art Gallery to support our respective programmes.

Jubilee Pool Auction

Spring Ball and Secret Art Auction in aid of Jubilee Pool

With live music, including The Boundless Brothers, and food from Little Wonder Café.
Enjoy a cocktail or two and peruse the auction lots – all specially created for Jubilee Pool from some of the leading artists in Cornwall. These will be displayed anonymously and the artist will only be revealed when auctioned.
All proceeds will go towards Friends of Jubilee Pool’s fundraising target of £160,000 for the pool’s refurbishment.

Join a weekly discussion between the Transition artists and curator Blair Todd to talk about the progress of their residency. Every Friday between 19th Feb & 11th March.


Transition is an opportunity for artists to use the gallery space to consider how a series of works is developing or to try out ideas for an installation or interactive project. Each artist is given a week-long slot in either the lower or upper gallery, with a total of eight projects over the four weeks. Throughout their week the artists re-evaluate their work and respond to visitors’ comments. Each project is in a constant state of flux, without the constraints of a finalised exhibition.
