Open Eye is a gallery which specialises in exhibiting photography and other lens based media. In addition to our gallery programme, we also produce occasional off-site exhibitions and projects. Since opening our doors in 1977, Open Eye has built a reputation for innovation and excellence.

Liverpool Suzuki Violin Group

The Liverpool Suzuki Violin Group is comprised of students aged 3-17 who learn through the method of Japanese teacher, Shin'ichi Suzuki. Suzuki teaching involves fostering the "right environment" for learning and understanding music. The performance takes place in the dramatic, open first gallery and is not to be missed!

Open 1

Open 1 presents photography that narrates individual stories and addresses issues of collective relevance. Each series has a personal dimension (more introvert, suffered and lyrical) and a public-facing one (socially & politically engaged and more militant). Including work by Billy Macrae, Deborah Kelly, Helen Marshall, Louis Quail, Richard Ross and Sonal Kantaria. Bar avaliable.

Open Eye Gallery is also the hub for this year's LOOK:15 photography festival, offering a source of information and discovery for exploring the citywide festival. Cool liquid refreshment is available from a paid bar in the stunning glass atrium
the perfect place to recharge, start or end your LightNight with accompanying music and art.

Light Packets

  • 15 May 2015 4-7pm

A lantern workshop for all ages and after-dark installation by Urban Canvas & Open Culture inspired by the cargo packet ships that travelled between Liverpool & the New World. Packet boats used to carry mail and each lantern will contain a hand written message and be symbolically launched onto the canal basin to create a beautiful and colourful floating light installation.
