Duxford is a former Royal Air Force fighter base and Europe’s leading aviation museum with many original period buildings such as the Control Tower and hangars still in use alongside state of the art award-winning exhibition buildings including AirSpace and the American Air Museum.

Get up close to over 200 rare and historic aircraft which are on show at Duxford whilst over 50 historic flying aircraft, based at the airfield, regularly take to the sky. Duxford also has one of the finest collections of tanks, military vehicles and artillery in the country.

Ample free parking. Duxford is situated at junction 10 of the M11, 15 minutes south of Cambridge and 40 minutes from the M25.

The majority of Duxford's buildings have level entry or ramped access for wheelchair users. Wheelchairs are available on loan and can be booked in advance. Guide dogs welcome.

The Normandy Experience looks at the dramatic invasion of Europe on D-Day, June 1944, and the events that followed in Normandy and NW Europe until the end of the war.

Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and the RAF today

15 May 2010

See the legendary aircraft of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight on ground display alongside contemporary Royal Air Force aircraft. RAF pilots and personnel will meet and mingle with visitors, who will also have the opportunity to chat with Battle of Britain veterans.
The event will also showcase the diverse roles of the contemporary RAF with a range of ground activities, including performances by the renowned Band of the Royal Air Force College and will culminate with a Sunset Ceremony with the Queen’s Colour Squadron in honour of all RAF personnel who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

Military Vehicle Show

6 June 2010

Experience the sheer power of some of the biggest tanks as well as the more quirky peculiarities of smaller vehicles such as jeeps and 1940s ambulances. The owners of these amazing vehicles will be on hand to chat to visitors, passing on their infectious enthusiasm for military vehicles.
Visitors will also be able to see military vehicles in action as they take part in a cavalcade along Duxford's runway.
