Black Swan Arts is a dynamic venue for contemporary arts and crafts. Our purpose is to provide an enriching and challenging arts experience for everyone. There are two galleries and three exhibition areas in total dedicated to an ambitious programme of exhibitions showing high quality innovative work.

We have four artisan craft studios, which offer the opportunity to buy directly from crafts people and to watch them at work. Internal studio space is available to hire as well as the historic Round Tower for workshops and exhibitions. We have a thriving shop and cafe with sunny courtyard.

1000 Postcards

  • 18 — 28 June 2016

The show in the main gallery will feature miniature original artworks by well-known artists and celebrities – famous names already on-board include Oscar-winning animator Daniel Greaves, Simon Tofield (of Simon’s Cat fame), singer-songwriter Bryan Adams, Pearl and Daisy Lowe, Kevin McCloud and Luke Piper.

The exhibition is open to artists, working in any media, who would like to get involved and donate an original postcard-sized artwork. It’s a great way to show your support for this vibrant arts centre in the heart of Frome.
The artworks will be exhibited anonymously (signatures will appear on the back of the work) alongside a list of contributors. Visitors will be able to buy the postcards for £30 with the ambitious goal of raising £30,000 towards restoring the historic Round Tower and keep the gallery open for another 30 years.

Postcard packs have been produced which are now available from Black Swan Arts, but artwork can also be submitted on any standard A6 sized card (148 x 105 mm). The closing date is Tuesday 7 June.
Black Swan Arts’ 30th anniversary celebrations are set to include a series of fantastic exhibitions and events throughout the year. The centre wants everyone to remember in 2016 the history of the wonderful Grade II listed building, enjoy the innovative programme of contemporary art and crafts that have taken place, and get involved in the next 30 years of this exciting arts venue.
