Get stuck in! Museums, heritage sites, locations and collections are offering you the chance to have a go at all kinds of things from archery to meditation for Museums at Night this year. Check out our guide to some of the best events announced so far, and click on the link for each event to find out more and book your place...

If you like getting stuck in, Museums at Night has a stupendous range of hands-on activities.

Use futuristic hi-tech gadgets for a psychic investigation at Hull Maritime Museum, where psychic investigator Steve Kneeshaw will be investigating spectral activity or try Elizabethan dancing at Hardwick Hall in Derbyshire where Bess of Hardwick waits to introduce you to some of her Elizabethan friends.

One of the most intriguing night time adventures takes place at Torre Abbey in Torquay where a Live Cluedo game puts you in the spotlight as you try to solve a brutal murder that has just taken place during one of the Carys' elegant country house parties. Six weapons. Eleven possible locations. Six suspects. It's up to you to find the murderer...

On first glance there is something more sedate at the wonderful Hunterian Museum where All Stitched Up! promises a night devoted to the art of the stitch in all its forms. Pick up your knitting needles, crochet hooks, embroidery silks and sutures surrounded by medical oddities and specimens. With expert guidance provided by the Stitchettes from London Stitch and Bitch it should prove a popular night.

There will be the chance to explore the more contemplative experience of meditation in York Minster's hallowed Eastern Crypt.

You can see a wild cat or stroke a seal at the Bute Museum in Scotland, attempt railway poetry at Enfield Museum Service, craft your own lantern at the RNLI Henry Blogg Museum in Norfolk or devise a model spacecraft at the National Maritime Museum.

Whatever you try your luck at, there's an even chance you'll return with a tale to raise an eyebrow or two when you get home.
