The National Heritage List for England

The National Heritage List for England is a searchable database of all the protected heritage sites across England and once you navigate a way in, it's a fascinating and very useful resource.

A quick search function on the front page allows you to enter your choice of key words such as castle, garden, church etc or you can head straight to the advanced search function where you can explore a range of useful themes from monument type to historical period.

But perhaps the best function of this site, launched by English Heritage in May 2011, is the map view facility which gives you a quick, at-a-glance overview of where to explore these important remnants of our national heritage.
