Henry VIII is keeping the online community up-to-date on the preparations for his coronation, 500 years after the inauguration took place.

A Tudortastic Twitter site has been set up to record the events leading up to Henry VIII's coronation on June 24 in realtime.

Set up by Historic Royal Palaces, the site is written from Henry's point of view, and the mighty monarch will be regularly updating his followers with a series of "Tweets" as he prepares for the grand occasion.

Twitter users have already been told about Henry's desire to marry his brother's widow and his initial thoughts on what it will be like to be King, with more than 500 watchers already keeping an eye on the King, just days after the updates began.

Twitter is not the only site to get involved with the festivities to celebrate the 500th anniversary of Henry's accession to the throne. A special Youtube channel has also been set up by HRP, showing everything from the busy Tudor kitchens at Hampton Court to talks by noted historians including David Starkey.

Even the axe-happy King can't escape Facebook

The number of different Henry-related groups on Facebook testify to the popularity he still holds. Heated debates have positioned him as both the greatest leader in British history and a tiresome tyrant.

Henry still seems to attract a remarkable number of groupies, with some Facebook fans fancying their chances of a neck-risking marriage to the regal object of their desire. Fans have also been comparing collections of Henry-based merchandise, showing that he is still a truly Tudor superstar.

Update: 12/05/2011 Henry VIII's Twitter account is not currently active.
