From a Brazilian league match between Botafogo and Corinthians to Brian Clough’s title-winning days with Derby County and the Newcastle United of Kevin Keegan and Bobby Robson, two football exhibitions – at the Quad in Derby and the Discovery Museum in Newcastle – pursue the soul of football.

A squad of photographers and video artists play the field in Derby, supported by the National Football Museum. Newcastle’s exhibition, meanwhile, is backed by the Premier League PFA Community Fund.

  • The Pride and the Passion: Contemporary Art, Football and the Derby County Collection opens on June 6, while The Pride and the Passion: Derby County Football Club Through the Years and Grassroots opens in the Extra Gallery Spaces on May 26 2014. Both run until May 7. Toon Times is at the Discovery Museum until October 5. Both venues will be open late for Museums at Night.
