Flickr site: Imperial War Museum's Faces of the First World War

a composite photograph of portraits of Fisst World War servicemen
When the Imperial War Museum was founded in 1917 some of the first items it collected were photographs of the war dead. Bereaved families donated their treasured photos to help make a national record of grief, loss and remembrance. Now, 100 years later, these pictures are being shared via Flickr.

It's a simple idea: a new photo from this poignant archive will be added every day between now and the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of the war in August 1914. Accompanying the photos are the biographical and supporting information that came with them and - of course - the comments, links and insights of the Flickr community.
