Here's a selection showing what our readers feel about Pallant House Gallery in Chichester, West Sussex.

“Pallant House Gallery is the finest modern art gallery in southern England. It is absolutely wonderful.” Margaret

“I'd like to vote for Pallant House ... it's absolutely fab, and it's completely reinvigorated the arts in West Sussex.” Tim

“I have just spent one of the best days ever there, inspiring modern art, beautiful setting. It opened my eyes to modern art, I learnt so much in a totally relaxed atmosphere.” Marnie

“Pallant House is a real eye opener. The original house and collection was a little gem of British art in an historic and very human setting, but its marriage to the new gallery space is nothing short of inspired. From accessibility, to facilities, to viewing atmosphere, to educational opportunities, it is a delight for all sorts of visitor. Add to all that the ability to house travelling exhibitions and you have a regional asset that is worthy of much more promotion.” Danny

“The gallery is fabulous with a superb transition between the Queen Anne house and the stunning newly-designed wing. The collection is fantastic: an impressive, eclectic display of modern British art in the last 100 years. The gallery is attractive, environmentally sound and has excellent access for the disabled.” Anne

“The absolutely brilliant Pallant House Gallery development is a breakthrough for modern British art and richly deserves recognition.” Rodney

“This is Chichester’s pride and fact it is the joy of anyone who enjoys looking at and getting information about art and its place in social history.” Robin

“Every visit is a treat, as alongside works by people like Peter Blake (many are like old friends) there’s always something new to see. Not just that – the gallery’s education and outreach projects have put contemporary art at the heart of the community, and re-invigorated the local art scene. The restaurant is always buzzing. And don’t get me started on the bookshop …” Dan

“I went to Pallant House Gallery when it first re-opened and I was stunned by how stylish, welcoming and just delicious the new extension is … A wonderful setting for one of Britain's most fantastic collections of C20th art - well done, and well deserved of this year's award.” Louise
