Colchester Castle, built between 1069 and 1100, is steeped in history. It faced Viking invasion, was a prison for suspected witches by hunter Matthew Hopkins and now it is a public museum. This webpage offers an interactive tour of the Roman castle - great for viewing the castle inside and out. Visitors can look at amazing artefacts – Roman coins, helmets, jars, lamps and saucepans or take a virtual walk through Balkerne Gate and the Temple of Claudius. An entertaining yet educational experience.
