The Royal Geography Society’s website is a great way to view adventure stories through photographs, watercolours, sketches and maps. The site has an image library from different periods and continents – showing explorers in the Antarctic and on Everest - from as early as the nineteenth century to the twenty-first century.

It boasts one of the largest collections of images on landscapes and people worldwide –Europe, Americas, Middle East and Africa. View a portrait of Native American named ‘Well-Known Man’ in 1884, a woman stood on a ridge in Yosemite Falls in 1917 and a colour photograph of expedition members on Everest in 1921.
