Before the Great War, Blackburn was Cotton Town. Cotton goods woven in Blackburn were worn all over the world. King Cotton ruled in Darwen too and its India Mill was one of the most impressive mill buildings in the country. Cotton Town is a digitisation project to put maps, photographs, documents, newspapers, books and pamphlets from the history of the cotton industry in these two mighty Lancashire towns online.
