Derwent Valley Mills

A 15-mile stretch of mills between Matlock Bath and Derby was designated as a World Heritage Site in 2001 in recognition of the area's importance as the birthplace of the factory system. This website allows readers to explore the role that Derwent Valley played in the Industrial Revolution, with detailed maps, history and other information.
