The iconic aircraft was commemorated in style with the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight displayed by the Spitfire, Lancaster and Hurricane.
A Hispano HA-1112 Bouchon and Hawker Hurricane recreated dogfights of the Battle of Britain, as well as the only UK appearance this year of the F-15-E Strike Eagle.
The aerial excitement was provided by aerobatic masters The Aerostars and the SWIP Twister Duo.
Other highlights included the RAF Westland Sea King performing an Air Sea Rescue demonstration, as well as energetic displays by an Apache helicopter and the B-17 Flying Fortress, Sally B.
An appreciative silence fell throughout the audience for the grand flying finale as seven Spitfires took to the skies over Duxford.
The Second World War was also brought to life over the weekend by living history groups, providing an authentic 1940s atmosphere.
