Red House Museum in Christchurch to host Forgotten Roman Emperor and Together shows

Exhibitions: The Forgotten Roman Emperor; Together, Red House Museum, Christchurch, January 28 – April 14 2012 (Together until February 25)

Two new shows at Red House: Emperor tells the story of how Carausius became Emperor of Britain during the late 3rd century, including an epic battle in Hampshire, shore raids by Saxon and Frankish pirates pursuing bountiful treasure and slaves, corruption, theft, shady deals and, ultimately, the assassination of the ruler by one of his most trusted aides.

In the Foyer Gallery, award-winning local couple Anna and Lall Sims – regulars of the Royal Academy’s Summer Exhibition and former Not the Turner Prize show accomplices – present their works.

While Lall re-imagines simple objects with the help of woodcraft, Anna deals in mysterious paintings depicting "ethereal faces and the mystery of open doors".
