Tiverton Museum's 'Virtual Victorians'Website was funded by the DfEE as part of theMuseums and Galleries Education Programme.Aimed at National Curriculum Keystage 2 age groups, it includes online handling of collections of artefacts from the museum, grouped into themes. These are put into context with the aid of photographs and documents also taken from the museum'scollection. There is background information on life in Victorian times and thedaily journals of a factory worker and his wife which providea useful context for the objects. It's not just history at all, though - there are E-toys to play with: you can dress Florrie the Victorian Doll; build with Victorian building blocks or give a magic lanternshow. You can even send an E-(Victorian) postcard or 'Ask a Victorian.'When you've had a look at the site, visit the museum itself - there's plenty to do and see in Devon that is unaffected by Foot and Mouth disease.
