Event: Masked Ball at Kensington Palace London, August 19 2011
Visitors are invited to a masked ball for the last ever late amidst Kensington Palace's Enchanted Palace exhibition, which has seen the palace's opulent state rooms transformed into a magcial installation exploring the lives of former Princesses.
The Wild Boy’s Ball will be held on August 19 – and a decadent evening of music, magic, performance and dancing is promised.
The event references one time palace resident Peter the Wild Boy, a Hanoverian who was found in 1725 living wild in the woods in Hamelin.
Peter was brought to England at the behest of King George I, whose interest in the boy was piqued during a visit to his Hanover homeland.
Entertainments for the evening will include the Gaiety Engine: the last remaining Victorian freakshow, Official Palace Gossips and a masked ball finale, among many others offerings.
The dress code is bold and beautiful theatrical attire, with masks strongly encouraged. Tickets cost £15.
