Excellent access for all: the main site is on one level with well-paved areas outside, and toilets for visitors with disabilities.
On the site of a former colliery, the museum displays a rich collection of historic objects telling the story of transport, mining and quarrying, engineering and the fashion industry. Other attractions include: * Guided tours of the historic colliery buildings; * Train rides along the recently-restored colliery railway; * Outdoor science and water playgrounds; * A sculpture trail; * A nature reserve and fishing ponds

Snibston Miners' Gala Family Fun Filled Day

Snibston Discovery Museum will open its doors to visitors with free admission and free car parking, a great fun filled day for the whole family to enjoy. The Gala is a great opportunity to remember and celebrate all things mining and to educate the younger generation on what life was like for the mining communities.
This year there is a fantastic line up including a horticultural show, Miners’ first aid display, colliery tours, Snibston co-op brass band, a miners’ wives dolly tub demonstration, mining memorabilia, local history groups and displays, delicious food and drink stalls and much more.
There will be plenty for children to enjoy as they can ride a Pony, pets corner including, Newfoundland dogs, goats. Also children's face painter, Filbert the Fox and LCFC, children's fun fair rides and much more…!
There will be music and dance from Leicestershire Snibston Co-Op brass band, Creation Steel Band, Ibstock Scout Marching Band and Expressions Dance Display.
Avid gardeners can test their green fingered skills at the Horticultural Show. with a range of prizes to reward the entrants' finest home-grown fruit, vegetables and flowers. Categories for cakes and flower arrangements and a section for children are also available at the Horticultural Show.
A new exciting exhibition titled “What’s in your shed?” A varied collection of sheds from g8artists, Ruth Singer to an Event shed.
