On the site of a former colliery, the museum displays a rich collection of historic objects telling the story of transport, mining and quarrying, engineering and the fashion industry. Taking The Plunge
Showcasing the history of men's and women's swimwear, the displays will chart the development of swimwear from the health promoting properties of sea bathing in the 1890s, to examining the changing attitudes of sun bathing in the 1920s, through to the booming swimwear industry created by the affordable package holidays that began in the 1960s and 1970s. It will also explore the fabric technologies that have helped to create modern swimwear used by both amateur and competitive swimmers. Normal opening hours.

Visitors can travel on a restored 1960'2 passenger coach on a short trip from the heart of the former mine into the heart of Coalville. The coach is pulled by "pit" - Snibston's Hunslet desel colliery shunting loco. Trains will run every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday during school holidays and every Bank Holiday Monday.
