The Wellingborough Museum is housed in Dulley's Baths, built in 1892 as an indoor swimming pool by David Dulley, a brewer in the town. In 1920, the building was bought by George Cox and converted into a shoe factory. Cox's moved to larger premises in 1995, and the building is now being fitted out as the Wellingborough Museum. The building is 10,000 square feet in size, and displays the collection of artefacts owned by the Winifred Wharton Trust, previously shown in Croyland Hall in Wellingborough.

Additional info

Our new museum opened in May 2007 in Castle Way, Wellingborough, close to the Castle Theatre. Free parking is available in the nearby multi-storey car park, or the Castle's Theatre's car park, or on-street in Castle Road. We are free for entry, and remain an independent volunteer-staffed museum. On the ground floor is the shop, cafe, and Victorian pool area, and our downstairs gallery covering the period from pre-history to 1945. In the upper gallery are room and shop settings mainly from the 20th Century and our exhibition on Wellingborough Zoo. The Dulley Room, a multi-purpose function room seating 100 people, is available for exhibitions, school, and conference use. This room is equiped with DVD projector and sound system, also with staging, and is regularly used by the Northamptonshire Film Archive Trust for film shows.
Representatives of the Northamptonshire Family History Society are at the museum every Wednesday from 10.30am to 3pm to answer questions and advise on research, and also on the second Saturday of the month.

A typical market-town collection of mainly social items relating to Wellingborough and district. Our new building is 10,000 square feet, and we are working on the displays in the main galleries. The lower gallery shows the Borough's history from earliest times up to the Second World War. The upper gallery shows show the 20th Century, mainly in room settings.
