Bakewell Old House Museum






This enchanting museum houses 10 beamed rooms with massive Tudor fireplaces. The building incorporates a Victorian kitchen, Tudor Parlour and Houseplace. Other rooms have Ashford Marble, lace, toys, china and large collection of cameras and photographs.
The magnificent beamed room, The Solar, displays some of the musems' costume collection. Industrial gallery and courtyard featuring stunning, large scale, stainless steel interpretation of Lumford mill wheel

Think Peaky Blinders, cocktail parties, nights out with this wonderful display of glamorous, dazzling costumes and accessories from a time past. Some of these fashion iconic outfits are new to the museums collection and have never been displayed before.

Memory House - The Mysterious Peak District

A season long installation of artworks, photography, maps, artefacts and information celebrating the stone circles, burial mounds, barrows and leylines in and around Bakewell.
This project by artist Keith How and photographer Billy Bye has been developed over the last five years since the exhibition "Mysterious Derbyshire" in Photogallery. The exhibition "Spirits" was held at The Gallery in Repton and in 2016 this creative duo held a critically acclaimed exhibitions of works at Arbor Low stone circle.

Museums at Night - "Language of a Landscape" Inspired by the Peak District.

We celebrate the unique landscape of Derbyshires Peak District with exciting readings of poetry and prose with photography and artworks spread throughout the museums evocative rooms.
There will be licensed bar serving local Thornbridge beers, wine and soft drinks also available.
