Fell running, according to athletic painter Sue Slack, takes her to ecstatic artistic and physical heights. For her latest exhibition, on the themes of walking and sketching, her connection to the land sets a highly colouful pace.

Slack’s jogging adventures mean she spends more time in the North York Moors than ever. She finds the scenery emotive, making on-site drawings before returning with more sketchbooks.

The artist’s work is held in collections from Austria to Australia, but this show will resonate with anyone who holds a candle for the splendor of the Moors. A favourite in galleries around the north-east, the canvasses are as uplifting as a journey up those hills.
