A renowned fashion designer and activist, Dame Westwood is collaborating with YOYOU, a non-profit youth mentoring organisation, to create this innovative new platform for budding writers and poets.

Running until mid-June, the project’s theme is climate change awareness, giving young people the opportunity to produce original work while raising awareness about contemporary environmental issues.

YOUYOU Mentoring’s founder, Brenda Ramsey, expressed her enthusiasm for the initiative’s potential to cultivate young talent.

"The collaborative project with Dame Vivienne is a fantastic opportunity for young poets to learn from one of the world's most creative and truly original artists," she said.

The London-based project will offer five poets between the ages of 17 and 21 the opportunity to create poetry, portrait shoots and a film with Westwood and poet Greta Bellamancia in a series of workshop sessions.

The aspiring writers will then record their work at The Premises' solar-powered 'A' Studio.

A celebrity poetry-reading event, hosted by Dame Westwood, will take place at Keats House in October, at which the young poets will perform the fruits of their labour, making use of the wonderful reflexive space where Keats penned Ode To A Nightingale.
