You might want to clear some space on your bookshelf, because it’s time for The London Art Book Fair 2012.
Whether you want to browse major new releases, fawn over rare publications or get involved in the programme of discussions, screenings and workshops, this is the UK’s largest event dedicated to art books, with 75 publishers and a host of artists and writers lined up to attend this year.
During the course of the weekend, provocative photo collage artist Penelope Slinger will speak about surrealism, eroticism and feminism and curator Lisa Le Feuvre will discuss the interplay between literature and sculpture with designer Fraser Muggeridge. Ken Kirton will invite visitors to make their own books using natural inks and vegetable stamps.
Artist Sophie Loss will also be at the event, photographing visitors with books they are about to read, like or want to buy as part of on an on-going art project and her images will be projected throughout the Fair.
The winner of the Arts Book Prize, as chosen by an expert panel of judges, is to be announced during the weekend.
“The London Art Book Fair promises to be as exciting and vibrant as ever this year,” says Iwona Blazwick, of the Whitechapel.
“The fair will take over the entire gallery for three days, bringing together the most beautiful, collectible art publications from around the world alongside stimulating artist talks and events.”
