Artes Mundi was established in 2003 as a biennial contemporary visual art initiative. Artes Mundi comprises a major exhibition at the National Museum Cardiff, a website, a lively public event and education programme, a partnership with the BBC producing several television documentaries as well as a conference and publication. One of the artists exhibited will become the recipient of the £40,000 Artes Mundi prize.
