Woking's public have voiced their reactions to Jenny Holzer's controversial exhibition at The Lightbox as part of a new video project by James ML Muller.

The piece captures visitors responding to the American artist, who is world-renowned for her projections of confrontational political messages.

The Lightbox was keen to hear visitor's opinion of the three-month exhibition after an article in the Guardian questioned the local resonance of it.

Happy to take on a challenge, The Lightbox commissioned the video and created feedback cards to inspire debate about Holzer's intent and motivations, as well as the nature of art itself and its relevance to society.

Responses have so far ranged from the sarcastic to the philosophical.

"This work appeals to me as I always feel art is about asking 'good' questions rather than about getting answers," writes one visitor. Another, when asked "how does the work make you feel?", has simply replied, "it doesn't."

Among the pieces being showcased are the visually powerful light installation Blue Purple Tilt (top of page), which has illuminated the Main Gallery since last November.
